KUTANI MANEKI

(KONEKO/KURONEKO)

KUTANI MANEKI(KONEKO / KURONEKO)

These are the Japanese sofvi figures of the Kittens co-created by KUTANI SEAL and Engimono (lucky charms) Department Store. The right hand, neck, and tail are movable. Kutani ware figures were also made using the same prototype.

Sofvi Figures Made in Japan

Whereas Japanese sofvi (soft vinyl) figures industry was at its peak during the 1960s, only a handful of companies still produce them in Japan today. As they are all handmade with quality, they are more expensive than their foreign counterpart due to the difficulty of mass-producing. “MADE IN JAPAN” sofvis are considered to be highly valuable to the point where even artists from overseas would come to Japan just to place the order.
